Costume Specialists Inc. just celebrated it's 40^th anniversary of making mascot magic! It all began in Wendy Goldstein's basement with friends in 1983 and grew to employ 45 talented designers, crafts people, and administrators when it was sold in 2018. Follow one woman's journey as an entrepreneur who founded a unique business designing and manufacturing corporate logo characters (there are only 5 like it in the U.S.), surviving the multiple challenges, and every entrepreneur's dream... selling it! The journey of personal and entrepreneurial growth travel side by side in this examination of the birth and growth of a business and work/life balance.

About the Speaker

Wendy Goldstein is a Senior Lecturer at The Ohio State University. She teaches History of Twentieth Century Fashion, and Branding online. On the business side, Wendy founded and owned Costume Specialists Inc. for 38 years. It is a multifaceted Columbus-based company that designs and manufactures corporate logo characters and manages them for companies around the world. Wendy also owns Studio Creative, a Clintonville co-working space with an industrial sewing machine workroom membership option. Wendy currently serves on The Columbus Fashion Council Board, The Costume Society Board, is a mentor for The Women’s Small Business Accelerator, and is a Past President of the Midwest region of The National Association of Women Business Owners. Wendy continues to have a passion to help women small business owners.
